Job:ヨブ記５．６－１５　

For affiction doesn’t come forth from the dust,

neither does trouble spring out of the ground.

塵からは災いはでてこない。

土からは、災いは出てこない。

But man is born to trouble,

as the sparks fly upward.

それなのに、人間は生まれれば必ず苦しむ。

火花が必ず上に向かって飛ぶように。

But as for me, I would seek God.

I would commit my cause to God.

わたしなら、神に訴えを、

神に、わたしの問題を任せるだろう。

Who does great things that can’t be fathomed,

marvelous things without number

彼は大いなる事をされるかたで、測り知れない、

その不思議なみわざは数えがたい。

Who gives rain on the earth,

and sends waters on the fields.

神は、地の面に雨を降らせ、

野に水を送ってくれる。

So that he sets up on high those who are low

those who moum are exalted to safety.

神は低いものを高く上げ、

悲しむものを引き上げて、安全にされる。

He takes the wise in their own craftiness;

the counsel of the cunning is carried headlong.

知恵あるものは、賢しさの罠にかかり、

よこしまなものは、たくらんでも熟さない

They meet with darkness in the day time, 
and grope at noonday as in the night.

真昼にも、暗黒に出会い、

昼も、夜であるかのように、手さぐりする。

But he saves from the sward of their mouth, 
even the needy from the hand of the mighty.

神は貧しいものを、彼らの口のつるぎから救い、

また強いものの手から救われる。

So the poor has hope, 
and injustice shuts her mouth.

それゆえ貧しいものに望みがあり、
不義はその口を閉じる。
